A growing number of nutritionists and health experts are re-thinking the advice we’ve been hearing for years to eat a low-fat diet.  We’ll talk with Sally Fallon Morell, an author & activist who says we’ve been fed some bad advice when it comes to cutting fat from our diet.  The foundation she co-founded nearly 20 years ago touts the nutritional and health benefits of diets full of meats, eggs and dairy products.

The summit kicks off with a Seminar on Healthy Traditional Diets with author of best-selling book Nourishing Traditions, Sally Fallon Morell, on Saturday.

This event is followed by a real foods cooking retreat Sunday through Tuesday. These events will be held at the beautiful Lake Clear Lodge & Retreat, 6319 State Route 30, Lake Clear 30 miles north of Lake Placid. Mark Bittman of The New York Times has proclaimed that “Butter is Back.” Seminar participants will learn why butter is a health food and why animal fats and coconut oil should be a part of everyone’s diet. The seminar and lunch are only $30.

Morell is known for sorting out fact from fiction in the complicated subject of nutrition and for making difficult concepts easy to understand and implement. Her seminars are both inspiring and practical. “If you are aiming to improve your diet and your health, the most important step you can take is to understand which fats are healthy and how you can incorporate them into your diet,” says Morell, president of the Weston A. Price Foundation. “This conference will highlight the science that supports the need for traditional foods in the diet like bone broth and fermented foods, for everything from hormone production to weight loss to protection against cancer and heart disease.”

These special events continue with a chef-guided dinner on Saturday evening at the lodge and a delicious lunch on Saturday with Sally Fallon Morell. Continue this enchanting experience by attending the Real Foods Cooking Retreat June 5-7. Join executive chef Cathy Hohmeyer and guest wellness practitioners to participate in hands-on workshops on cultured dairy, summer soups, stocks, fermented beverages, natural desserts, enjoy several meals including a five course dinner and more. These events are open to the public and attract health-conscious families, farmers, chefs, journalists and health professionals.

The highly anticipated and unique combination of learning, food and retreat is ideal for anyone who loves food, small farms and wants to enjoy a get-away in a beautiful setting for a day or several days. For the full schedule see: http://lodgeonlakeclear.com
